Technologies of ROSATOM’s Smart City Presented at BRICS Forum

The company Rusatom Smart Utilities (is part of the State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM) has shared the best practices of implementation of own digital systems for the high-performance territory management at the innovations forum BRICS. The speakers of Rusatom Smart Utilities, together with the experts from the four corners of the world, discussed the way modern technologies help improve living standards and create comfortable digital environment. The sessions and discussions of the international forum “Cloud City” gathered together the leading experts in the sphere of modern technologies and business from tens of countries. They are heads of cities, ministries and agencies from the countries of BRICS, Asia and the Middle East, as well as representatives of development structures and technology companies.

Alexey Golubev, General Director of Digital Platforms and Smart City Solutions, JSC (is part of ROSATOM division – Rusatom Smart Utilities) took part in two events of the forum. He presented the division’s own solutions of municipal management, public utilities infrastructure, resource supply and municipal economy, development of tourism and hospitality industry, interaction with population, intelligent transport systems, etc.

The panel discussion “Projects of Future Cities. How Future-proof are They?” addressed development of cities of the future. A city today is concentration of opportunities for technology companies and startups which create and implement new products and services.

“The map of our projects represents more than 100 implementations; they include not only ROSATOM’s cities, but also a lot of other small, medium towns, cities with a million-plus population. All our solutions are aimed at the single ultimate resource – time a person has. Today we get to choose – we want to live in a megacity with the maximum density of events and cultural life, but it is logical that this is related with difficulties. Or in a small town. Or even in a village – the air is fresh and snow is white. When smart mobility appeared, it does really matter where exactly you live. The difference tends to vanish. When you are engaged in creative work, you may choose location where you and your family feel comfortable. This is the real human-centricity. Future cities should be more than sustainable – they should be sensitive and eco-friendly, they should see the solutions the nature gives us a hint about,” said Alexey Golubev.

The discussion “Stairway to the Skies. Infrastructure Companies in the Cloud Economy” was attended by the representatives from Egypt, RSA, Russia and China. The experts discussed development of the cloud economy, building of digital cities and prospects of work with big data in urban planning. The speakers told about the plans of development of cities and countries, data aggregation platforms, problems and plans of digitization, and presented their own development-related ideas.

“The sound experience in implementation of various digital projects allowed us to form our own comprehensive approach to digitization. We are always glad to share it and we offer our competences in order to elaborate tasks and projects in accordance with the international standards of Smart City. Our IT products prove to be reliable helpers in development of territories, they are in compliance with the sustainable development goals, said Alexey Golubev.

Elena Semenova (GR-Director of Digital Platforms and Smart City Solutions, JSC), together with the representatives of the leading companies and experts of the sector, discussed transformation of IT products in new conditions. Elena spoke at the panel discussion “Unlocking the Market. Russian Businesses Exploring New Niches.” She focused on emerging new opportunities for creation of own products at a swifter rate taking into account the need for replacement of foreign solutions. Answering the moderator’s question about top three prospective trends in Russian and global IT and the line that should become a priority one in terms of the governmental support, Elena emphasized, “Popular trends are certainly artificial intelligence, one can’t help but observe the use of digital twins; and, finally, decision support tools. In my opinion, the priority lines of the governmental support should include import phase-out solutions; special attention should be devoted to information security and development of artificial intelligence.”
