The Government of the Nizhniy Novgorod Region and Rusatom Smart Utilities (is part of the State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM) are implementing the joint project of implementation of the technologies of Smart City in all municipal units of the region. The project Smart City will be scaled up to all municipal units of the Nizhniy Novgorod Region. Earlier, the informational system operated in pilot cities: Nizhniy Novgorod and Sarov.

Smart City unites different information systems for management of city infrastructure: transport, education, healthcare, housing and public utility services, security.

“The Nizhniy Novgorod Region showed one of the best results in the country at the stage of work with pilot cities. Now we are scaling up successful practices to the whole region. Smart City allows to make all the stages of taking decisions on residents’ applications transparent, enables tracking the execution of the application at any stage, said Gleb Nikitin, governor of Nizhniy Novgorod Region.

As from the time of the project start, large-scale preparatory works of placement of this information system were held; the specialists of the digital development and communication ministry and Center for Coordination of Digital Economy Projects held complex analytical work. IT resources of the data processing center of the Nizhniy Novgorod Region were provided; network and server infrastructure was aligned; information protection work was held. Different platforms were considered for scaling up the project. Based on the results of tender procedures, Rusatom Smart Utilities developed an integrated digital platform. This is 100% Russian product which takes into account the import-substitution requirements. It unites external systems and allows to manage city infrastructure efficiently.

“The Nizhniy Novgorod Region is one of the leaders of digitalization of the city environment, regional and municipal management. We have already implemented several large joint projects, and today our task is not only to scale up the technologies of Smart City to municipalities, but also, actually, to create a single information space in the region for residents and authorities,” noted Kseniya Sukhotina, general director of Rusatom Smart Utilities.

The single information space will accumulate all information on citizens’ applications, work of municipal public utilities services, incidents. The system will be integrated with two tens of information systems of the region, as well as with the digital platform Lobachevsky in Nizhniy Novgorod and system Smart City Sarov.

“The data will be received in the information and analytical system of the situational center of the governor of the Nizhniy Novgorod Region as well. This will allow us to improve quality and speed of taking managerial decisions, including – and most importantly – on residents’ applications,” said Egor Polyakov, deputy governor of the Nizhniy Novgorod Region.
