ROSATOM’s Digital Projects Win in RBC Digital Awards

The company Rusatom Smart Utilities (is part of the State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM) has confirmed the status of one of the leaders on the digital technologies market at RBC Petersburg Digital Awards. The winner was the project of formation of intelligent transport system (ITS) of Vologda system which was implemented jointly with the city administration. Besides, another project of Rusatom Smart Utilities – "Development of the portal “Our North”" became the finalist. At the official ceremony, awards were presented to Alexey Golubev, General Director of Digital Platforms and Smart City Solutions, JSC (developer of IT products for the projects of Smart City and digitalization of city environment, is part of Rusatom Smart Utilities).

Today Rusatom Smart Utilities implements the projects of digitalization of transport infrastructure in more than 20 Russian cities. Vologda agglomeration is one of key complex projects. The two-year contract allowed to achieve the first level of ITS maturity almost wholly. The project is implemented within the framework of the federal program “Common-system Measures of Development of Road Facilities” of the national project “Safe High-quality Roads”. More than 76 km of optical communication lines were mounted; 105 video surveillance complexes were installed, which have video cameras with wide angle of vision and infrared searchlight; besides, more than 300 detectors of transport were installed. In real time mode, they transmit information on the road situation to the established Center of Traffic Organization, which is the main element of the “road intelligence”. 69 traffic light facilities of Vologda have been connected to the ITS system (90% of city traffic lights). A coordinates feed has been launched, which means synchronization of traffic lights at some sections of roads – this allows to accelerate traffic flow. Traffic signal control is tested, both with a dispatcher’s help and automatically. Electronic traffic controllers are connected into the single network, they exchange data and align with the changing road situation adjusting the algorithm of transport passage. A dispatcher with manual control is connected in complicated situations.

“Owing to the creation of the modern digital infrastructure for efficient road complex management, we can regulate traffic flows, make roads safer and ensure uninterrupted public transport flow. We were glad to present our projects at RBC Petersburg Digital Awards. This is a great forum to share advance practices in the field of cities development, digitalization of various economic sectors. The geography of our projects covers more than 100 cities; among other things, we manage projects in the north-western federal district,” said Alexey Golubev.
